Vaginal atrophy and hypertrophy of the labia minora are the most frequent inconveniences of the female genital area, with symptoms such as vaginal dryness, itching and pain during intercourse, and psycological problems with embarassment.

Vaginal atrophy is a very common condition, especially among women going through menopause. The vulvo vaginal tract is very sensitive to the decline in oestrogen, with a number of consequences that have a direct impact on the quality of life of a woman.

Several treatments are available, even if is very omportant to focus on the problem, often undervalued from doctors and patients or mistaken for an infection.Besides oral therapy and the use of vaginal lubricants, we have today additional treatments, vey effective from both an aesthetic and functional point of view. Hypertrophy of the labia minora is a congenital abnormality of the genital area with excessive lenght of the labia minora which becomes more evident at he time of puberty, with embarassmentat the time of taking off clothes in front of of girl friends or sexual partner. There can be pain during intercourse and patients can be reluctant to talk about it.

Hypertrophy of the labia minora can be easily corrected with a labiaplasty procedure. Today with new surgical thechniques such as the Alter technique, is possible to fix the defect without any loss of sensitivity. The procedure can be done under local anesthesia or local with setation and the patient can go home the same day. Complication rate for an expert surgeon is very low.
